
Dr. Konstantinos Ourelidis has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Western Macedonia since 2022. He obtained his Diploma in Electrical Engineering and Engineering from the Polytechnic School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in March 2008 with a grade of “Excellent” (8.96). He obtained his PhD from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Polytechnic School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in July 2015. During his undergraduate and doctoral studies, he received distinctions and scholarships for his excellent performance. He also graduated from the Department of Organization and Management of the University of Thessaloniki in December 2015.
He has published 16 papers in international peer-reviewed scientific journals, as well as 28 papers in international and national peer-reviewed conferences. He has been working as a freelancer since August 2009, gaining experience in the study, supervising and constructing energy and electromechanical projects, as well as in the design of electricity markets at the Electricity Market Operator (later the Hellenic Energy Exchange), while also having significant experience in teaching Power Electronics courses through independent teaching at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Western Macedonia. His main research interests focus on the control of distributed electricity generation, mainly from renewable energy sources, for the creation of ancillary services markets, the operation of microgrids, the study of protection, and the development of control methodologies for power electronic converters to reduce losses.
