
Dr Konstantinos Kounetas holds a BSc in Mathematics and an MSc in Economics from the University of East Anglia, UK and a PhD in Economics from the Department of Economics, University of Patras, Greece.
He is Professor of Applied Industrial Organization, collaborates with the Department of Economics (University of Patras, Greece) and is a visiting professor at the Department of Business and Economics (University of Naples, Italy). He is currently (2024-) Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the University of Patras and Director of the LENS Lab (Laboratory of Economics of Strategy, Innovation and Sustainability). He was also the Director of the Graduate Program “Applied Economics and Big Data Analysis” and Vice President of the Department of Economics.
Professor Kounetas’ main area of research is energy economics and applied industrial organization with emphasis on efficiency and productivity estimation and sustainability. The recent years his work focus on sustainability and green marketing. He is currently ranked in the top 7% of economists worldwide and in the top 5% of economists in Greece (this ranking takes into account only publications of the last 10 years, for authors registered with the RePEc author service).
