
Ms. Maria-Eleni Delenta studied Chemical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens with emphasis on environmental issues and organic industries, specializing in Air Quality Control from Volatile Organic Compounds Emissions. She has also awarded a Masters’ Degree in Business Administration (MBA) by the University of Cyprus. Between 2002-2003 she worked in cooperation with the Department of Labour Inspection of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance in the field of precaution techniques for specific air pollutants in Cyprus. In 2003 she worked at the Department of Solid Waste Management of the Ministry of Interior. Between 2004 and 2005 she worked as an Industrial Extension Officer at the Energy Service of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism. In 2005 she was appointed to the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority as an Energy Officer on Natural Gas and Other Fuels, and since 2016 she has been appointed as the Head of International Affairs and Energy Policy Department. She is also responsible for EU issues and research and development projects and activities related to Energy, Environment and Sustainability. She has been working in European Research Projects since 2004. She has been appointed as the Vice-Chair of the RES Working Group of the Association of Mediterranean Energy Regulators (MEDREG) for the period 2017-2019, as Co-Chair of the RES Working Group for the period 2019-2021 and as Vice Chair of the Electricity Working Group of MEDREG for the period 2022-2024. She is also a member in the Regulatory Authority Advisory Committee (“RAAC”) of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum. She was a member in the Committee of Chemical Engineers at the Technical Chamber of Cyprus and was a representative of the Technical Chamber of Cyprus in the Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education. She is also a member of the Pancyprian Union of Chemists and the Cyprus Association of Chemical Engineers.
