Theodoros Zachariadis is a Professor and Interim Director of the Cyprus Institute’s Energy, Environment and Water Research Centre and of the Science and Technology Driven Policy and Innovation Research Centre. He holds a Diploma and a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. In the recent past he has served as a member and a Vice Chair of the Scientific Committee of the European Environment Agency, a Visiting Professor at Aarhus University, Denmark, and an associate editor of the international Journal “Energy Economics”. Since 2020 he has been continuously listed in the top 2% of most widely cited academics globally in the field of Energy. He is the recipient of the 2009 Research Prize of the Republic of Cyprus and the 2019 Environmental Prize awarded by the President of the Republic of Cyprus.
